Summer

Holland Michigan is home to the oldest authentic working Dutch windmill in the United States. It can be found on Windmill Island Park surrounded by the Macatawa River. The structure is named De Zwaan, meaning The Swan or Graceful Bird. The park is a must visit if you are ever in the area.

When you visit the park you will see the windmill as you approach the park. Entering the park you will see Little Netherlands offering replica buildings of those found in the Netherlands and a gift shop selling authentic Dutch treats. Every year 150,000 tulips are planted around the windmill and in surrounding gardens. De Zwaan is still in operation grinding wheat into flour, you can take a tour of the windmill to get a better look and climb up to get a wonderful view of the park.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It’s a huge tourist attraction in our state, in 2021 over a million people visited Pictured Rocks. Outdoor attractions had a boom of visitors fueled by the pandemic between 2020 and 2021. The rocks that are visible were deposited during the Precambrian Period between 500 million and 1 billion years ago. Every year they erode and change formation from the water and wind.


The Mackinac Bridge was built in May of 1954. It took over 48 months to build and over 3,500 workers on the job. Its the fourth longest suspension bridge in the world and an iconic symbol of the mitten state. Its the number one tourist destination in Michigan and according to some sources its the third-best tourist attraction in the United States. With nine million visitors every year and five stars on trip advisor, it is the place to visit in Michigan.


Autumn

The Boyne Sky Bridge was built in 2022. It’s the worlds longest timbered-towered suspension bridge. It’s 1,200-feet-long and 118 feet above the valley below.


Fall in Michigan is like nothing you’ve ever seen. Everywhere you look there are vibrant colors. The best way to see them is by taking a drive.

The Lower Harbor Ore Dock of Marquette was built in 1931 and decommissioned in 1971. It is easily accessible and one of the most visited structures in the Lake Superior Circle Tour.


During the months of December to March winter takes over the mitten state. While it’s not everyone favorite season, there is plenty to enjoy during these months. Michigan has more than 40 ski resorts, over 15 indoor water parks, and plenty of arcades and movie theaters.
